An unusually warm February afternoon at the park

We’ve had an unusually warm weekend in the St. Louis area. Yesterday’s high got up to something like 65 degrees, so we took Oliver to a local park. There, we put him in a swing for the first time. He was really cute, laughing and looking around at all the people. We also played with some of the playground equipment, like a funny mirror and these twisty things. We then walked around the path and headed home. Below are a couple pictures and a short video from our day. Enjoy:

Bath time is fun time

Oliver loves bath time. As he’s gotten older, it’s been fun to watch him splash in the water, play with his toys (seems like he has hundreds) and laugh as we dry him off. And it makes us laugh to see his crazy wet hair before we comb it. Anyway, for those of you interested, below are some pictures from a recent bath time. Enjoy.

Oliver is sooooo big

Oliver is getting so big lately. He’s almost 11 months old, and he’s starting to look like a little boy as opposed to being our little baby. It’s the strangest thing to realize that he’s not really that little helpless baby anymore. He has the biggest smile now, and he’s getting close to standing up without holding onto something. His latest thing is standing on one side of his pack n’ play and then letting go and moving across to the other side.

Below are a couple pictures. What do you think? Does he look like a baby or little boy to you?

Oliver gets haircut No. 4

Oliver is just 10 months old, but he’s already on haircut No. 4. What a head of hair!

He was looking kind of Donald Trump-esque of late, so Sarah’s brother gave the boy a new ‘do today. Here are before and afters (in two cool St. Louis Blues outfits, by the way):

What do you think? Like the short hair, or the frock?

Our baby uses sign language – “more please”

OK, the coolest thing happened yesterday. We’ve been using baby sign language with Oliver for several months, trying to get him to “tell” us what he wants, as opposed to grunting. Well, yesterday, it finally worked. He is now signing “more” when he wants more food. To make this sign, you move your thumbs and fingers together and touch the 10 digits in front of you (if this makes no sense, Google it for a better explanation).

Here’s a short video of one of the first times our baby used sign language:

Still skeptical? Here’s further evidence:

Would you like to sign “more” to me? I have lots more video proof here. Pretty cool, isn’t it?

Lots o’ toys for the good little boy

Christmas may be officially over, but the holiday’s mark can still be found all over our living room. It was Oliver’s first, so I’ll give a quick rundown of what happened. Christmas Eve, he was the crankiest he’s been in months. So after dinner, we let him open a couple presents and then put him to bed . After he finally went down, we hit the wine bottle hard! Then Sarah and I opened presents from each other.

Christmas morning, we let Oliver open his bigger presents. We got him things like Mega Blocks and Little People play sets. Plus, we hot him this pretty cool zebra thing that he can sit on and swivel around. It’s almost like a mechanical bull, minus the toss-you-on-your-ass feature.

Then Molly got her presents from us. We put them into a stocking and make her pull them out herself. Here, she’s reaching in for her new purple Wubba.

Around 10 a.m., we headed to Sarah’s parents’ house for brunch and gifts with her relatives. Then, at 3:30 p.m., we went to my grandma’s for more. And if that wasn’t enough, we had more presents yesterday, as my parents saved their gifts for the privacy of our house (it was pretty hectic at my grandma’s). Yesterday was fun, with my parents over until late, plus my two sisters and their man-friends staying the night. We also had a chance to give Molly her gift from my sis. Check out the size of this biscuit from Three Dog Bakery:

All in all, it was a great Christmas. And a nice first one for Oliver. He made quite a haul. Lot’s of toys for the little guy. Plus, some good family bonding. Hope you all had a great holiday as well.
